Aspen Mountain will re-open Friday 24 – Monday 5/27 for Memorial Day weekend. Skico has reported over four feet of snow since the mountain officially closed mid-April. With temperatures expected to be in the 70′s for the rest of the week, locals and visitors can ski in the morning and hike, bike, or go fishing in the afternoon. ACRA just released the lodging reports for April 2013 with positive results. Snowmass in particular saw an increase of over 7% over 2012, surpassing occupancy rates from 2007-8.

Snowmass saw a dramatic increase due in part to the new Westin & Wildwood resorts that opened for Winter 2012/2013 as well as special event and group bookings that saw an increase over previous years.

Art Daily won the most votes with 1,439 and Anne Mullins received 1,287 votes also winning a spot on the City Council. Dwayne Romero came in a close third with 1,094 votes. Daily is a well know attorney who had been contemplating a fun for years. Mullins is the current chair of the Aspen Historic Preservation Commission. She will be the only woman on the council.

The heated mayoral election was so close that City Council members Steve Skadron and Torre will head to a runoff election scheduled for June 4th, 2013. Skadron received 23.2% of the vote with Torre receiving 20.9%. We look forward to the results!
